Do wai anybody you meet, the wai is the equivalent of the Western handshake.
Do offer and receive anything with right hand always.
Do keep both feet on the ground when sitting in a formal setting.
Do ask for a receipt if you pay for a room in advance of more than one day.
Do make sure you know a person well before accepting a tempting offer.
Do sit in the place indicated by your friend; seating arrangements are important to many Thais’.
Do wai an elderly person.

What cultural do not in Thailand
Don’t hug a Thai to show him your appreciation. In Thailand a firm “Thank you very much” or wai with your head bowed is enough. (For the hug, he/she will most probably not like it.)
Don’t ever touch anyone’s head for any reason. The head is the most important part of the entire body.
Don’t point with the forefinger at people, especially at a person’s head.
Don’t place your feet so that the soles point toward any person, religious image or picture of the royal family.
Don’t step over another person if he/she is in your path, instead, simply walk around that person.
Don’t walk into someone’s house with footwear on, most house require you to remove your shoes outside the front door.
