You might have heard about the furious punches, crushing elbow strikes, lethal kicks and powerful grappling. But nothing compares to seeing the battle take place amidst loud cheers accompanied by a traditional wind and percussion ensemble. Welcome to the exciting world of Muay Thai, a tough martial art and the source of national pride. Muay Thai is unique because unlike traditional western style boxing which relies on using just the hand, almost anything goes. Spoken in the same breath as any of the worlds’s best-never ending hive of activity. Street vendors’ and shop lone either side of the strip tattoo parlors and travel agencies to fake educational diploma, fake driver’s licenses, and friend insects a cast bizarre characters. Kao San Road also has countless budget guesthouses some of which could be called three-star boutique hotels. And in front of each are stalls to grab a meal or a cold drink and watch the world go by. At night, Kao San Road is where budget travelers converge and there is plenty of good traveler’s conversation to be had. When the sun sets, restaurants, bar and pubs pump up the volume and the backpacker bridge begin their long alcohol-fuelled night.
